Equity Calculator

This calculator deals out the unknown cards thousands of times and counts how often each hand wins. It is the same Monte Carlo technique used to price options: simulate the uncertain future many times and average the payoff.

Shorthand
  • Pair vs two higher cards ≈ coin flip (QQ vs AK ≈ 54/46).
  • Pair vs smaller pair ≈ 80/20. Dominated hand (AK vs AQ) ≈ 70/30.
  • Any two cards vs AA ≈ 15%. Preflop edges are smaller than they feel.
